Do You Remember Love?
It's not just for Valentine's DayBy Matt Tullos
For Two Readers: Man and Woman
Man: Do you remember love?
Woman: Your heart races
Man: You wait out in the cold for her car to turn into my drive.
Woman: You write his name just to see it.
Man: You wait by the phone.
Woman: You could talk to her for hours
Man: We talk about everything and nothing at all.
Woman: You try to imagine what your shared future will be like.
Man: You would fight the world to win her love.
Woman: Just to look in his eyes
Man: To hear her voice.
Woman: We use sincere words?
Man: Cherish
Woman: Honor
Man: And commit.
Woman: I am in love
Man: I can't imagine life without her
Woman: I'd be lost
Man: I hunger to see her to look into her eyes.
Woman: I feel weak when I am out of his reach.
Man: These words are familiar.
Woman: The stuff of music and poems?
Man: Words that give access to our deepest emotions and longings.
Woman: Cherished words, indeed, are water to the arid lands of loneliness.
Man: When cherished words of love find themselves in the mouths of man they are fragile?
Woman: Promises are broken
Man: Feelings fade
Woman: Seasons change
Man: And life goes on
Woman: Nothing left but sad recollections and scars
Man: Of love once held and then betrayed.
Woman: But there is a Lover whose power makes love strong.
Man: Words spoken from this mouth shall never fail.
Woman: He is the creator of a love we can imitate.
Man: His love brings us into as everlasting home
Woman: It's the love we must celebrate every Valentine's Day
Man: Every Sunday
Woman: And with every breath.
Man: It's the love that gave His only son.
Woman: It's a love that wept at the tomb of a cherished friend
Man: It's a love that set aside heaven to be tortured on a cross
Woman: His love suffering unspeakable insults
Man: Unimaginable pains
Woman: Simply in order to say
Both: I love you
Man: Weeping child
Both: I love you.
Woman: Desperate man
Both: I love you.
Man: Busy mother,
Woman: I see you and I love you.
Man: Broken spirit
Both: I love you.
Man: He sees
Woman: He reaches
Man: He loves.
Both: For He is love.
