Sunday's Sermon Notes: You are Gifted!

Each follower of Christ has been created, designed and gifted to change the world.

You aren’t gifted to feel good about yourself.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
    1 Peter 4:10

When God got ready to organize his church, he didn’t set up a dictatorship with the pastor at the head. He also didn’t set up a democracy where everybody had an equal say in everything. When God built the church, he set up a body with Christ as the head and each Christian as a part of the body.

Spiritual gifts enable ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

    Just to be clear…

    False statements about Spiritual Gifts

    • Spiritual gifts are what people in the church do inside a church building.
    •  Once you discover your spiritual gift you can avoid responsibility by saying, “Well, that’s just not my spiritual gift!”
    • Spiritual gifts are about positions and titles.
    • Spiritual gifts and the fruit of the spirit are the same things really.  (And that’s good because I don’t have the gift of patience.)
    • Everybody gets just one.

Four things you can do to discover your spiritual gifts:

    1. Read about it.

    2. Pray for insight.

    3. Ask others.

    4. Go try it.

#1 Prayer to pray:  Lord give me wisdom and make us bold.
